We're Building an Interim Supportive Housing Community on Cherry Avenue and You Can Help
DignityMoves and the City of San Jose are embarking on a public-private partnership to build a ~120-unit interim housing community on Cherry Avenue. Under Mayor Matt Mahan’s visionary leadership, San Jose has remarkably reduced the number of unsheltered homeless individuals, with more than a 10% decrease attributed to the city’s successful focus on scaling interim housing solutions as part of the continuum of housing. This project can potentially help over 2,000 people on their path out of homelessness over the next 10 years.

Transforming Response to Homelessness in San Jose
San Jose - Cherry Avenue
DignityMoves and the City of San Jose are embarking on a public-private partnership to build a ~120-unit interim supportive housing community on Cherry Avenue. When complete, this site will provide critical housing for individuals living unsheltered along the Guadalupe River.
Services
DignityMoves will partner with a local service provider to offer a wide range of onsite features and services, creating a safe and dignified community for residents.
Community
Demonstrating a clear intent to address homelessness as the crisis that it is, the San Jose City Council has unanimously authorized broad powers to facilitate rapid development, such as suspending land use and zoning requirements and maximizing legal and administrative flexibility. San Jose is now on track to ending unsheltered homelessness in the city and, more significantly, to break the cycle by providing the necessary support for individuals to resolve their homelessness permanently, establishing a model that can inspire communities nationwide.
