A Closer Look at the Ojai Community

Site

Located at 611 South Montgomery Street, the Ojai Permanent Supportive Housing community will be built on a 1.74-acre city-owned parcel currently serving as the Public Works maintenance yard. The site will include 30 permanent supportive units, arranged in a village-style layout centered on a shared courtyard and communal spaces. Each home will feature a private room and an ensuite bathroom, offering residents privacy, safety, and dignity.

Shared facilities will include a community gathering space, laundry room, and three offices for on-site case management and support services. Designed to promote stability, community connection, and ease of access to services, the site will help residents stabilize and begin rebuilding their lives.

Public-Private Partnership

This new community is made possible through a public-private partnership between the City of Ojai, DignityMoves, and HELP of Ojai. The project is funded through California’s Encampment Resolution Fund (ERF) Round 3, administered by the California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH) and reflects a shared commitment to provide dignified housing for residents transitioning from the nearby tent encampment.

Together, these partners are combining local leadership, nonprofit innovation, and compassionate on-the-ground services to create 30 supportive homes that bring stability and safety to Ojai neighbors who need it most.

Ojai Community

The Ojai Permanent Supportive Housing Project has been developed in close coordination with the City of Ojai and shaped by the community through public workshops, Planning Commission hearings, and City Council meetings. This transparent process ensures the project reflects Ojai’s shared priorities of compassion, safety, and sustainability.
