Welcome to the Via del Oro Interim Supportive Housing Community

In April 2025, the Via del Oro community opened its doors, offering 135 thoughtfully designed private rooms and comprehensive on-site services for up to 150 individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Built in partnership with the City of San Jose and made possible through the generosity of philanthropist John A. Sobrato, this interim supportive housing site is a cornerstone of the city’s bold strategy to achieve functional zero homelessness.

OUR PARTNERS

The creation of Via del Oro would not have been possible without the vision, expertise, and dedication of our incredible partners. We are deeply grateful for their collaboration and commitment to providing innovative, dignified solutions to unsheltered homelessness.

Community

Via del Oro exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships and community engagement. By leveraging resources and expertise from local government, private philanthropy, and nonprofit organizations, this community is creating lasting solutions to one of our region’s most pressing challenges.

San Jose is now on track to ending unsheltered homelessness in the city and, more significantly, to break the cycle by providing the necessary support for individuals to resolve their homelessness permanently, establishing a model that can inspire communities nationwide.

Prior to opening, dedicated volunteers and community members participated in Adopt-a-Unit weekends, generously furnishing each tiny home and ensuring the community was welcoming and ready for residents.
