FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – [January 14, 2025]

DignityMoves, a nonprofit organization that is reimagining scalable solutions to street homelessness, today announced the appointment of David Grunwald as Managing Director, Housing Solutions.

Grunwald has spent over three decades leading and directing affordable housing development and homeless service organizations. He has created homes for thousands of housing-insecure people, raised over $500 million in project funds and led the development and construction effort on 49 homeless shelters, transitional housing, affordable housing and permanent supportive housing projects.

Prior to joining DignityMoves, Grunwald served as CEO of LA Family Housing, Affordable Living for the Aging, and American Sunrise Communities. He played a lead role in the novel effort at RMG Housing to develop and build 1,800 units of permanent supportive housing funded exclusively with $190 million in private impact capital from the SDS Supportive Housing Fund.

Grunwald earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver, a Master of Public Policy degree from Duke University and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School.

“David’s experience building permanent supportive housing using systematic, standardized approaches and the efficiencies of private capital enabled his firm to build at a fraction of the cost and in half the time of traditional publicly financed models,” said DignityMoves Founder & CEO Elizabeth Funk. “At DignityMoves, David will employ a similar systematic approach to rapidly scale interim housing. That’s always been our vision: solutions that can be replicated again and again to deliver housing fast, cost-effectively and at scale.”
